This term we have covered a lot in English. This started with writing recounts of our fantastic residential. After this, we used the trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them as inspiration for our own unusual and magical monsters. We used descriptions for the book to help us develop our ideas and how to structure a non-fiction information text. Following this, we created a range of fantastic beast with Ministry of Magic ratings from one X (boring) to five X (known wizard killer that cannot be trained). The children really enjoyed coming up with their ideas and created their own versions of the book. We are also very excited about the upcoming film!
Finally, we have spent some time looking at poetry. Using Dulux colour charts, we created new paint colour names and used these to help us write some poems about dragons’ eggs. After this, we learnt about how metaphors are like telling poetic lies and how personification can create imagery. This ended in us writing a poems about a range of things from doughnuts to clay!
