Our theme this term is ‘Nose in a Book.’ We have been reading and writing about The Iron Man, by Ted Hughes. We have used similes, onomatopoeia and short sentences in our stories to build tension in the style of Ted Hughes. In our stories we thought of our own robot instead of the Iron Man. We also pretended to sell our robot and designed an advert using persuasive language. We have written a persuasive letter from Hogarth to the Iron Man asking him to stop eating the farmers’ machinery. We have also written a newspaper article about the Space-Bat-Angel-Dragon landing on Earth and demanding to be fed living things.
We have also written instructions about how to make a model iron man and we have planned and written a recipe for a meal for the Space-Bat-Angel-Dragon.
