Dear Parents,
As the Headteacher of Elizabeth Woodville, it is a pleasure to introduce this thriving Primary School to you. The school is full of life and looking forward to the future with energy and enthusiasm.
The introduction of the National Primary Strategy has led us to examine not only what we teach, but also how we teach. During their years at Elizabeth Woodville, the children are given the opportunity to study a range of subjects, sometimes as topics which cut across subjects and involve various skills. This provides them with a broad base on which to build for success at the Secondary phase of their education. Class teaching and discussion allows for a greater exploration of ideas, while individual work ensures that particular pupils' strengths and weaknesses are addressed.
The highly committed staff at Elizabeth Woodville Primary School aim to create a stimulating and attractive learning environment, where children are encouraged to develop initiative, independence, self-confidence and a sense of responsibility.
Elizabeth Woodville staff also work hard to create a working environment in which all children are expected to do well, and one where achievement is celebrated at all levels.
Our school believes in the value of home-school partnerships, where children share their homework with interested adults and where the staff shares curriculum intentions with parents regularly.
Our school values the community and recognises the contribution it can bring to the education of the children in our care. We actively seek and encourage positive partnerships with all who can help us develop, as a centre of excellence and enjoyment.
Our success is society's gain, and to achieve such a laudable aim, the staff at Elizabeth Woodville work in partnership with parents and governors. As a result of people working together towards common aims, the school builds capacity as a community where individuals are respected and valued, and one in which children can reach their full potential.
